Stockyard and Corral Construction of Billings

Your stock is precious – it's your life, your livelihood, and your future so when it comes to stockyards and corrals you don't cut corners.  Well designed corrals can take the pressure of constant pushing and rubbing by stock while ensuring that they flow around you so that you and your workers are safe in the midst of the herd.  We're experts in stockyard and corral construction, so let's talk about what type of design will suit the size of your herd and the way you work with them.

Pens
The simplest stockyard type is the pen or enclosure but even the simplest pen comes in a variety of different styles, sizes, and strengths because there's a huge difference in pens designed for sheep compared to ones for cattle or horses. Getting the height and strength right is going to be key to the happy working of your animals and the expected life time of your stockyard itself. If the enclosure is just to temporarily hold the animals in place then it doesn't have to be too complicated but it still has to be fit for purpose, so let us advise you on what your options are for how heavy duty the materials need to be.  Then if you're using your corrals not just to hold livestock but also to work them, move them, and sort them, you're going to need to talk to us about corrals designed for movement.

Movement Corrals
This is really where the expertise comes in. With the right design of corral it is possible for a single worker to work and sort cattle for example while remaining totally safe as the cattle move around them. Curved corrals can ensure that cattle don't try to turn back and keep moving where you want them while solid sided corrals can keep cattle calmer because they don't see the workers beyond the panels. We can design working corrals to keep all sorts of animals moving safely where you want them including cattle, horses, and even llamas. Talk to us today about designing your working corral.

Corral Panels
One of the things we always try to build into our stockyard designs is the flexibility to adapt for the future of your livestock. The way you work today isn't necessarily the same as the way you will be working a few years time and so to handle the change in size of your herds and your work we design and install corrals with movable panels so that they are flexible and can be reconfigured for different sorting and holding tasks at different times.

Gates
We provide a range of gates of different heights and working weights depending on your livestock demands, and we can combine them with corral panels to ensure that your stockyard can be used in different ways for the different seasonal work, or expanded easily as your livestock numbers grow.  Talk to us about how you work now and how you want to work in the future and we will put together a stockyard with growing room built in.
